Rava dosa recipe

The Rava dosa recipe is a breakfast recipe. This is a pancake. This is prepared from rava or suji, curd, and different types of seasoning. Now this recipe is very popular because it can be prepared much faster than regular dosa.

You can prepare different types of Rava dosa like plain Rava dosa, onion Rava dosa, vegetable Rava dosa, masala Rava dosa etc. Plain Rava dosa contains only rava, wheat flour, and curd. You have to mix these three ingredients and mix salt according to your taste. Then prepare dosa like regular dosa it becomes super thin and crispy dosa within a few minutes.

Onion Rava dosa is very thin and crispy. Net-like structures are found in dosa. You have to add small square pieces of onions, chopped ginger, chopped green, chopped chillies, and chopped curry leaves to the Rava dosa batter and then make thin dosa. This dosa is super crispy and thin. You can make this dosa within fifteen to twenty minutes.

You can also try Rava masala dosa this dosa also very tasty like regular masala dosa for you prepare masala from potato mash like regular masala stuffing.

You can customize this recipe according to your taste. It may be very thin and crispy or you can make it a little thick and soft.

Ingredients (for  Rava Dosa Recipe)

 

Rava or suji——————-1 cup

Atta or wheat flour———–1/4 cup

Fresh Curd——————–1 cup

Onion(large)——————1 no

Green chilli——————-2 no

Curry leaves——————2 tbsp

Zinger chopped————–1 tbsp

Carom seeds —————–1/2 tsp

Black pepper powder———1/2 tsp

Oil

Salt according to your taste.

 

Preparation (For Rava Dosa Recipe)

If your suji particles are large you can make them fine with the help of a mixy otherwise normal suji are ok for this recipe.
You cut the onions into small square pieces. Chopp zinger, chillies. Cut curry leaves into small pieces.

 

 

Procedure(for rava dosa recipe)

 
  • Take a bowl then add suji and wheat flour.

 

 

  • Add curd and mix with a spoon. Now add a little amount of water mix again and cover the bowl.

  • Keep it for fifteen to twenty minutes.
  • After twenty minutes Suji absorbs water so add water to adjust the consistency.
  • Now add onion, ginger, green chillies, and curry leaves into the batter.
  • Now add black pepper powder and carom seeds to the batter.
  • Now add salt according to your taste.
  • Now switch on the gas.
  • Then put a dosa tawa or iron tawa on the gas.
  • You have first to heat the tawa then sprinkle water over Tawa the wipe it all with a cloth all water.
  • Then grease the Tawa with oil.
  • Take one layer full batter and spread it over Tawa in a circular shape like dosa.
  • Cook for 30 seconds on one side then flip the dosa then cook for another 30 seconds on low flame.
  • Now take out this dosa into the plate.

  • Serve this dosa with fresh curd or with any chatni or sauce.

 

How to serve Rava Dosa

Rava Dosa is delicious itself but for more delicious you can serve this dosa with different types of chatni, fresh curd or with any sauce. You can take this dosa with green pea curry or yellow pea curry which gives you a very good taste. Some of them are

Green chutney

You can serve this dosa with green chutney. This chutney is a common chutney which is generally served with any type of dosa or idli and other dishes. This chutney is prepared using fresh coriander leaves, and green chillies.
You make a paste of green chillies and coriander leaves then add lemon juice and salt and mix well. Now your green chutney is ready. Serve this with rava dosa.

Coconut chutney

Coconut chutney is a common chutney which is served with each type of dosa.
This is very easy to prepare with common ingredients but tasty. This is prepared from grated coconut. The main ingredient is grated coconut then add fried Dal, red chillies, garlic cloves, salt add one tbsp water to adjust consistency and make a paste in a mix. If needed add another tbsp water to correct consistency. Now serve this as a side dish.

Peanut chutney

You can also serve this dosa with peanut chutney which is very good in taste. You prepare this chutney in two steps. In the first step, you fry peanuts as a result it becomes crunchy.
Then in the second step, you make a paste along with onion slices, green chillies, and salt. To adjust consistency add one tbsp of water. Then you can serve this chutney with rava dosa. This combination is also very tasty like other chutney with dosa.

Tamarind chutney

This is another chutney. This chutney is a balance of sweet and sour. In Hindi, it is also known as khaki with chutney. The main ingredient of this chutney is tamarind. You prepare a paste with tamarind pulp, salt, and red chilli. Put a pan on the gas then add 1/2 tsp of oil then add 1/3 tsp of fenugreek seeds and fennel seeds. Then add tamarind paste and then add a small amount of jaggery which makes chutney sweet. Add 1/4th cup of water
Cook for a few minutes to get a chutney consistency. The sweet and sour taste of tamarind becomes an awesome combination with rava dosa.

Fresh Curd

If you haven’t any side dish for this rava dosa you can serve this dosa with fresh curd. Fresh curd can easily be available in each home. To make it more interesting you can sprinkle a little salt and chilli flakes over the curd. Sour of curd with salt and chilli makes this curd very tasty.  You can serve this dosa with curd.
